2014 speakers
Does anyone know the speaker sizes and RMS for a 2014 1LS, basic sound system?
The system actually has a pretty good quality sound, but it is not even close to loud enough! Does the system run off an amp or is it powered by the factory head unit? I am thinking of just adding/upgrading a speaker amp and hoping that helps out the system, pending you telling me that the stock speakers cannot take anymore juice. Likely same sized speakers as the BA system. 6.5 door, and 6x9 rear deck.
Non-BA is powered by the head unit, no external amp. And like most factory units, it's likely underpowered. In other words, the speakers will take more than the factory amp is pushing. Last edited by JimE; 03-06-2014 at 08:45 PM. |

The speakers are 6.5 in the door and 6x9 in the rear deck. I installed an jl 4/400 amp to my factory speakers it definitely helped. I just changed the speakers to polk audios and it sounds awesome now.

That amp puts out 75x4 rms correct?
That is a lot to put to stock speakers, i am really surprised that it was able to take that! How long did you run the stock speakers on that amp? |

Depends on how much you crank it. You can overdrive speakers with a clean signal. Distortion is what causes damage, even with properly rated amps and speakers.
