it's not completely GMs fault for instance a '90s 300zx (sorry but it's the only one i've seen used as an example) had a MSRP of 28,000-33,000 over here but in Europe it was about 70,000 (I'm not sure if that was MSRP or actual selling price) because of all the fee's for importing one so comparatively a 30k Camaro going for 60K (it doesn't say what model) isn't that bad

Unless I've been misinformed, once the car is in a buyer's possession, the buyer has sole legal rights to the vehicle. The title is a verification of this. It is only illegal to import without paying the taxes. If someone gets a good deal by using import methods, they are just probably breaking a law of a different nature, like improperly titling it, not registering it in their country, or failing to modify the car to fit local standards. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that any property owner can sell that property at discretion, including expensive machines like cars.

From bottom of page 6 in August 4, 2008 issue of AutoWeek:
ZR1 TOPS $200,000 IN EUROPE Chevrolet's 2009 Corvette ZR1 will sticker for twice as much in Europe as it will in the United States. Dutch importer Kroymans, which handles Corvette sales in Europe, said the ZR1 will have a sticker price of 136,000 Euros. At current exchange rates, that equals $214,146.64, more than double the car's $105,000 sticker in the United States. GM expects to export 70 ZR1s to Europe this year and about 150 units in a full year. Last year, Corvette sales totaled 1,244 units in Europe. |

My friend when he was shipped out to Rammstein AFB, he payed 5,000 to ship his SVT Cobra over with him. Once there, he traded it straight up for a ferrari 355 F1

Yup - the ZR1 is £100,000 here in the UK... that's around $200,000. Stupid? HELL yes. I saw it at the weekend and it's looks like a £50k car - which is IS (sorry for the big letters but it's a big point to make!). Twice that? No - I mean, the GT-R is £50k so why isn't the ZR-1? Madness...
