you shouldnt need a new alternator. if you would need anything it would be easier to just get a capacitor and put it in the lines. i wouldnt see why you would need a new alternator for one amp...... i think he might just be saying that to be cautious. i put a 1250w amp rated at 250w rms x 2 at 4 ohms, and i only have the 1lt/rs so i would see no need for you getting a bigger alternator. if you need to just get a capacitor

capacitors are like bandaids on cuts that need stictches.

I would find a local Alternator shop in your area, and see if they have an upgraded alternator or they can probably rewind yours to give you a higher output.

Of course, you can upgrade your battery to a nice deep cycle one as well. 1000wrms shouldn't tax your factory alternator enough to warrant a new one, and IIRC, the factory alternator is a 145 amp one, although I could be wrong about that.

IAS nailed the capacitor thing, they are worthless unless you go big, like battery big.

I just ran a second battery and I have power eating monsters and I dont have a problem at all. Only do a new alternator when you have more than just your factory battery. Your alternator is pretty high output from the factory I ran a Kinetik battery in the well next to my factory battery and she purrs. :-)
