About to trade-in my Camaro...

And get a 2SS/RS

Still haven't pulled the trigger yet as I'm still weighing my options right now.

Currently, I have a 2010 1LT/RS. Only extras I have on it are front/back black bowtie decals, tinted windows, and Lloyd custom mats (which btw I would keep and sell them here, so if you're looking for some nice red trim/"Camaro RS" Lloyd mats, PM me).

The one I'm looking to get is a 2011 2SS/RS IOM fully loaded automatic (although no GFX, which I;m considering to get from the dealer if I happen to go through with this) w/ white racing stripes that is $4000 off MSRP (MSRP is $40,800)- realistically how good is $4k off a brand new 2011? I think it's pretty solid but wondered if that's about average, above avg, or I could get more?

My car has just over 30,000 miles in just over 2 years (bought May 2009) and they are offering $22k for it - Kelly Blue book for a private sell value of about $24k (dealer trade-in was $23,275k) so I tried getting them to go higher but they didnt budge much (orignally they started at $21k, then they wouldnt go past $22k)

Some things that I like about the IOM that I don't have in the LT:

1. Obviously the increase in power
2. The sound/rumble (will eventually do a muffler delete)
3. HUD
4. Sunroof
5. Stripes (although still unsure what looks better on IOM - white or black? )
6. Leather, orange interior
7. Orange door panels, dash trim
8. Aux. gauge pack
9. Polished wheels (i like them a bit better than the Midnight Finish I currently have)

In addition to the Camaro I'll be trading in my 07 Silverado as I don't have a use for two cars right now.

hmmm...should I do it

Up to you, I had my 1LT as long as you have, and traded up to a 2ss just as long as u feel comfortable with payments and gas, go for it. I got $2,000 off msrp and free stripes since it didn't have them

Seems like a pretty good deal. I'd go for it.

Only 100 more a month, add about 100 more a month( depending your daily commute) in more gas at a higher price(premium), and insurance going up some. Realisticly probably a $200-$300 a month more increase from your payment now. It would be worth it to have a muscle car with a muscle motor to match it...

You probably spend 100 a month on beer and takeout. I say forgo some of it and use it on something that extracts emotion from you.

when i was at the dealer today i did test drive it, the first time i've ever drove a SS...problem was it was raining so i didnt get to jump on the gas like i would have wanted to.

and $100 more a month is very manageable to me, but adding 2 more years on the loan is a bit of an issue down the road

I missed the part about trading in a truck also. Judging from the miles on your current car and the fact that your getting rid of your truck I would stay with a V-6. The SS is liable to eat you out of house and home if it's going to be your daily driver. I you have the spare coin and it's not going to make things tight then go for it. Other wise, I would say don't do it.

a) i already put premium gas in the v6 and b) is gas mileage REALLY that much worse? EPA has it at 24 compared to 28 for v6 and 16 compared to 19 for the v6.
