V6's badged as SS's - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Do any other SS owners get upset when they see V6 Camaro's tooling around with SS badges on them? I know it's petty, but why the hell would anyone do that? I'm in Myrtle Beach on Vacation, and have seen two seperate V6's running around down here badged as an SS. Both were RS package cars. I pulled up behind a yellow w/black ralley's my first night here, and noticed the exhaust tips right away as not being quite right. As I pulled up beside it...no Brembo brakes...and upfront no mail slot. But it did have red front and rear SS badges

. The second was a red vert with all of the factory badging removed, and vinly ss emblems in their place. And just so everyone knew, he also put huge vinly SS emblems on the front fenders under where the camaro lettering should be. Just makes me wish I would have drove the Camaro down here instead of our ML....just so they knew that they weren't fooling me. I realize in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean shit.....just annoyed beyond belief when I see one. Kinda like rolling up on a BMW 528 or 530 that has M5 badges on it, or a Mercedes E350 with E63 badges etc.... Just don't see the point. The people that would be really into their car, are the same ones that know it isn't the real deal.....the only ones that are fooled are the ones that could care less anyway.

Why would a person buy a v6 Camaro in the first place? They get better gas milage, and look like a big v8 muscle car. Do i hate seeing a million Camaros on the road now, most of all are v6's, I cannot say on this forum. There is rules against any kind of v6 bashing. Maybe that v6 you saw had twin turbos installed, which would outshine the ss stock. Earning the ss badge.

You totally missed the point...not bashing V6 camaro's at all. I have respect for any Camaro, and any car that is fast no matter the engine size or make. I just hate it when people misrepresent what the drive by mis-badging it. In my mind the only Camaro's that should be badged as an SS are SS's...no matter how fast they are. I'm not going to run out and badge my Camaro a ZL1 should I ever supercharge it, because it isn't. It's an SS whether it is stock or makes 1000 HP....

just curious, how do you feel about SS's debadging their car? would look like an LS or 1LT/2LT with no RS package.

Not quite the same. Debadging isn't advertising the car is something it isn't.

Based off of HP, the v6 would be equal to a SS from the 70's...Im glad technology and engineering has come a long way.
