Hi everyone:

I have a question regarding the balancer "washer". I changed my balancer during my cam swap. I installed the factory washer off the original balancer onto the PowerBond balancer.

I started the car and found the rubber ring for the washer pushed through the front cover seal. I removed the rubber ring and found that the front cover no longer leaks. I noticed during the washer swap that the washer didn't sit flush on the end of the PB balancer. The PB balance snout has a shallower flat face due to an angle cut.

I believe that the rubber seal failed due to this angle cut on the snout of the PB balancer.

My question is how important is this "washer"? I have read some that say use it. I have read don't worry about it. And I have read that people noticed their car didn't have the washer installed.

I won't want to pull the front of the motor off if it's not necessary. I have ordered new gaskets for water pump and timing cover in case it becomes necessary. I'm having a hard time finding an online vendor selling the washer.

I have photos that I will upload shortly. Thanks for the input on whether the washer is necessary or not.

Balanced washer? Like from the ARP crank bolt?

Or is it the front seal?

Its the gasket that goes on the balancer I think
