Hey Guys,

Does the ******** fit ONLY if the carpet is cut? I really want to go this route but I'm having a hard time with cutting the carpet to get it to fit. BTW, my plan is to run a fosgate 12" P2 or 3, it seems like the JL requires additional space and more than I need. Currently I have two 10" kickers in a truck box that just happen to fit but it's not the cleanest look. I went with Infinity Kappa 6x9s (693.9i) on deck, they sound great but can be a bit strong, 6.5 (60.11cs) Kappas up front. I too have the rear deck rattles that I need to address. Running factory head, sound is nice and crisp with CDs but through my ipod it's hit and miss. Probably more the quality of the music on my ipod.

Thanks in advance for your help guys...Captain your write up is top notch!

Byron

Cut the carpet in the trunk?? I don't think you have to. I don't have ******** but my box fit without cutting. I really would hate to cut anything..

A few of the write-ups gave me the impression that the side carpet has to be cut, I didn't ready anything about cutting the floor carpet.

You need to cut the side carpet for the box to sit flush or you can remove it altogether but that leaves the stock amp exposed and it'll stick out like a sore thumb every time you access your trunk. Looks a lot cleaner if you just cut the carpet. You don't have to do anything to the carpet on the floor.

I'm about to do the install of a subwoofer myself. JL 12" w6v3 in ******** box. I have a JL xd400/4 right now. Was thinking about the JL xd700/5, but I'm not sure it will push enough power to my w6. Any help is appreciated. Also have the JL remote. Would the xd1000/5 v2 be better?

If you're set on going with another JL amp because of your JL remote, why not go with the XD600/1? Keep your XD400 and use it along with the XD600/1. That's half of what you'd be paying for the XD1000/5.

Zeus has a good point. The smaller 700/5 won't have enough power to run the w6 properly IMHO.

Use the pre-outs from the XD400 to provide the signal to the XD600. I would set the filters to both your front and rear speakers to high on the XD400.

Carpet on the side wall is the one that gets cut.
