Picked mine up with the tune applied. Can tell a difference at low RPMs, accel is smoothed out from being broken up prior to the tune. Smoother accel overall. Will post screenshots of difference in HPTuners later this weekend between the maps.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

Sounds like you should volunteer and take care of this.

Compared map files in HP Tuner between the factory SS map and the GM CAI map applied at the dealership. The only change to the map is in the MAF Calibration table for Airflow vs. Frequency.

Here are the changes in the factory SS tune and the tune provided by GM for their CAI.

First Stock:

GMPP CAI:

I have the MAF calibration changes saved to an excel, but don't know how to post tables here and also considering this impacts emissions it may not be a good thing to share.

What I can relay is that almost every single cell of the calibration table is changed by a decent amount. The charts may not show it clearly, but GM is expecting this intake to flow more at all Hz values. The axis values are also changed with the CAI having higher axis values.

How that translates to power is up to the dyno and track results, but I now understand why Tim at EFI has been so on board with rotofab and not skewing MAF tables.

Thanks for posting, just hard to see how much change there is between the two graphs.

Not sure what you mean by your last statement regarding skewing MAF tables? What this tells me is that this passes more air, and by correcting this you get an accurate reading of the additional air flow and thus you get more fuel to go along with it, right?!

Yeah, I'm still learning HPT so if there's a function that does a graph overlay, I'll post that.

What I was trying to get at with my MAF comment is that not only are the airflow measurements changed for proper reading, but the actual time the measurements are taken has changed (axis values). So the lb/in of airflow scale is changed too with the GM tune.

Short example of what I mean:

Stock:

lb/in.............................0.................. ................................750............... ...................784.5
Airflow.......................1.848134241......... ...........................15.3542738............. .........15.97555481

GM:

lb/in............................0................... .............................814.................. ...............858.75
Airflow.........................0................. ..............................15.87328288......... ...........16.67868574

It continues on at different rates from there.

and yes, it'll add fueling...some parts subtract fueling a little too. this intake will make more power...just a matter of how much. (1+ horsepower estimated)

Maybe never. We don't have really good info at this point. Someone mentioned it had failed CARB certification several times already. If that's true I doubt it will. But if they are just waiting on the wheels of bureaucracy to finish the paperwork, could be up to a year from now.

Has anybody installed this without doing the tune? Does it throw any CELs? Thanks for any info.
