autocross pics
I am an autocross virgin but great fun! Thanks to Brandon for the pics. Fastest cars of the day were a race prepped Miata and a sweet C6 Vette. Factory Goodyears may work well at the road course with some heat in the tires; however, they suck at autocross.

I'm am a little biased in favor of black, black, black ZL 1's.
I auto crossed in the SF Bay area back in the 60's campaigning a 1957 Corvette Fuelie that I bought in 1965 for $400.00 and spent $1500.00 on it including a new 327 high performance crate motor, an second hand rebuilt 1964 FI unit, four fat slicks and a wrecking yard Muncie 4-speed. I was no match for the 289 Cobra's, but I had five years of memorable, kick arse Saturdays at the local county fair grounds. Parking lot course set differently every week. Now I'm stranded in the deep South so my ZL will only be going to the drags after it's trip to 510 Engineering in Texas. Awesome pics of you throwing that big, bad boy around the pylons. Two "atta boys" for ya'. Cheers - Boyd Major USAF Retired |

Fun isn't, yeah I popped my cherry too last week at the Hot Rod Power Tour, although I'm just guessing the course I ran wasn't quite as aggressive as the one you did on account of they were letting anyone run it.

Look, I don't know about Mississippi, but there is autocross in Alabama, just google it fo MS and see if it pops up, if not, come on over here.

I was going to do autocross at the end of the month but it's on my brothers birthday, I was going to pay for both of us to go and thought he'd like to go in his car (Eclipse) but he's afraid of being too slow. Next time is in September, guess I'll have to wait...

You hear people say a modded Miata is a great autocross car, then you stick your nose up at that thought, then you go run autocross, then you get it. Although hint hint, Fbodfather told me that is where the Z/28 is really going to shine.

Awesome pics! I wish some ZL1's would come out to our local events and race. We sometimes get a few Camaro's but never seen a ZL1 out.

I had the stock Goodyears at 33psi...many of the gurus there said to go higher to 35-36. It didn't matter...slinging around over 4000lbs of Camaro is interesting. I put it in PTM mode 5 for what it's worth. Have fun and don't overcook it and banzai the turns!
