So I'm not the only one that realizes temperature has a major impact on performace. Wow, I thought my head was going to explode form reading all this garbage. For the rest of wait until winter and you'll see what a stock L99 can do.

I think we also need to wait until these cars get 4,000-5,000 miles on the engines too, no?

The newer Camaro has a much more intelligent operating system, and will detune itself to very aggressive conditions more so than your 98 camaro will, not just the engine but transmission as well (line pressures, shift times, etc.). You are in Florida, run them both in the winter together, guarrantee the 2010 camaro will win then. You are not comparing apples to apples here, much better technology with the engine as far as power potential, and with the operating system as well, but it needs some tweeking for consistancy if you are looking for all out performance.

Back to the track tonight. This time it was with the ARH long tube header system installed and tuned, I don't have the dyno graph but it was 23-33 rwhp gain through and 28-35 rwtq throughout with tuning, these dyno numbers were compared from when it was dynoed the last time the car was dynoed which was a different day, so the comparison results may not be too consistant, but the track results were pretty good, and honestly could be better also. The D/A was about the same as last time, a few degrees cooler, but humidity was higher due to raining on and off throughout the night, and I was limited with passes due to this as well, I know I could have gotten a better time but it started raining so I couldn't finish... Here is my best time:

60 foot - 1.907
1/8 - 8.18
mph - 88.00
1/4 - 12.60
mph - 111.5

So, I gained almost 4 tenths and about 3.5 mph (and trust me if it didn't rain I know it had a 12.5 @ 112 in it, but whatever, I have to keep testing more mods so I don't have time to go back and test this again). Again, no tire pressure adjustments, stock tires, no tricks, just bolt on the parts, tune it and go to the track.

Something to keep in mind here, the New Era OTR intake with ARH LT headers and a tune = 7-8 tenths and 7-8 mph in the 1/4 mile on an L99. Dyno numbers vary, they are a tuning tool, which is why I keep going to the track after each mod.

Stay tuned, more testing is coming...

Damn, almost 1.8x 60 foots on stock tires and converter? Maybe I shouldn't save my money for rear wheels and Nittos...

Yes, that's right stock tires and converter, it's got a 1.8x 60 foot in it the way it sits, just didn't get it tonight.

So, do you think there would be any benefit at all with drag radials for a stock or mostly stock (intake, catback, tune) L99?

Possibly, yes. I didn't get to make as many passes as I would have liked to, so I didn't really get a chance to push it.

Rev to about 1000 rpms, and then try to flash the stock converter best I can tonight. I know I could have done better, but excuses suck so this is what I did.

Nice Mike, you have some low 12's coming with that package come fall with DR. Can't wait to see what it does with your "next" mod, I think your gonna need to sort out the tire situation for that one.

Can't wait to get my hands on the OTR...Quality work here guys, no BS from New Era, they are just making parts that work, and they are proving it by tracking the car, not making assumptions or relying on dyno graphs. If you guys want to know what these mods are worth, there it is in black and white.

Just to add, its very refreshing to see a company such as yours that actually takes a scientific and empirical approach to their testing....its actually difficult to put into words how perturbing it is sometimes when you see "looked what we gained from an intake" meanwhile it doesn't have a stock exhaust and has a tune.. thus eliminating the possibility of assessing how much power the intake freed up by its self.

granted a tune is needed to unlock the true potential of any engine/intake/exhaust mod, but its nice to see what are the relative contributions of each component.

Thanks for your stringent, and likely time consuming, testing methodology!!! (Not to mention your attention to detail!)
