Depends on what you want to do with the car. My 2010 A6 came equipped with a 3.27 gear ratio. I do not recall an option for 3.45. If the A6 in the 2011 is the same as 2010, then the 3.45 will feel better on initial acceleration but the engine will turn higher RPMs at cruise so you will get less gas mileage.

Well only thing is with 4.10's the newer transmissions have a higher number first gears.

so lets recap versus a 4th gen
t56 first gear 2.66 x 3.42=9.10 x4.10=10.91
4l60e " 3.06 x 3.27=10.01 =12.55
5th gen
6l50 " 4.07 x 3.27=13.31 =16.69
v6 m6 " 4.48 x 3.27=14.65 =18.37
v8 m6 " 3.01 x 3.45=10.39 =12.34

Then of course you got to take tire size into account. But you get an idea of differences in final drive ratio. I guess a drag only setup it would be good. But a daily with 4.10's

Fun yes, gas mileage not so much... then of course you have to either buy tuning software or send out for a tune to get speedo to read right and abs to work right etc.

I'm not really clear on what is being said here, but 4.10s are just fine for daily drivers with little impact on fuel economy. In most cases people lose 1-2 MPG but we have had a few that drive almost exclusively in town gain 1-2.

^^^ I agree I had 4.10's, 1-3/4" LT's, ORY, Magnaflow 3" catback, custom 92octane tune on my 4th gen SS MN6 and only lost 2 mpg city driving in stop & go traffic
