TC along with gears is your best bet and since your an A6 id go with 3.73's bro.
3.73's A6, 4.10's or 4.30's M6 up to 500 rwhp

A torque converter and gears are awesome in the A6! We had one customer put 4.10s in the A6 and it is rowdy, but it was a weekend terror machine and he had a solid set of supporting mods in place. Generally, the recommendations you listed are in line with my own.

Going from the 3.27s to 4.10s provides an equivalent torque gain of about 25% or 100+ lb.-ft. of torque. You need a decent suspension and wheel/tire package to eliminate wheel hop and help increase traction. If you are considering this, keep in mind that the A6 SS will go from about 1800 RPM at 70 MPH to 2250 RPM with the 4.10s.
