love. my. car.
|
I think 22"s look great, but I'm afraid with the pothole infested roads around here, I'd blow a tire too easily and dent a rim.
I'm sticking with 20's unless this car becomes a weekend car in the future. Then I'd consider upgrading.

Quoted.................. well................ just because it sounds cool.
Ok, best way I have to explain it is ..... take a broomstick. Put some 5 pound weights on the ends. With both hands in the center of the broomstick, try to get the stick spinning as fast as you can. Now move those 5 pound weights half way to the inside of the broomstick. Do the same thing trying to get the stick to spin as fast as you can. Your torque gets murdered and your power hurt bad when the weight is further out. It will be a tad easier once it's moving, but in the begging it's much harder. The weight is further out on the axis. There is definite power and torque loss. More so than I'd have EVER admited in the beggining. I've had it proven to me on the track, and on a dyno. Quote:

I had them. Till I was gonna have to buy the tires at 480.00 PER TIRE for rears. It was litteraly gonna cost (from tire rack) 1800.00 for all 4 tires. May have come down in price now, but back then it really sucked. Quote:
Still wish I'd have gotten 20s though. Whatchu trine tuh say?!? Last edited by PQ; 04-04-2011 at 03:26 PM. |

I wouldn't pay for something to lower the PERFORMANCE on my performance-model Camaro. But if you like it, rock it.

Bigger wheels will not slow the car down or hinder any performance numbers,
If you but forged 3-piece 22" wheels that is. Forged wheels are the only option if going over 20" to keep performance

Don't even stress how fast your car is because theres always another person around the corner with a faster car.
It is what it is, just do what makes you happy. I would only buy forged wheels from here on out. If there not $600+ea there just lame !!!

Sure, we're not talking about losing a full second or 75 horse power, but 20 rwhp and .2 seconds you will lose. I don't care WHAT kind or type or how much you pay, you throw the weight out to the edge of the rotation and you will pay by performance loss. Not to mention the loss of traction. Low sidewall = traction loss. There is a significant loss in performance. I will still beat a stock Camaro or Mustang hands down no contest, but an equaly moded and powered Camaro will have the easy advantage over me. |

I have 3-piece 22" forged wheels. Now that I have a supercharger, I'd like to sell them and get either 20" or 18" wheels because the 22s don't hook. It's hard to take advantage of the power when the wheels spin. |
