Since you gave such a worthless word, I will also give you a picayune one!

"Pickayune" means to be of small value. It is used derisively in the Southern Dialects.

New word: "thresh".

I've not heard "picayune" used derisively. Interesting.

Thresh: separate the grain from the plant

Next: surfactant

I ain't sure now 'bout your new word because the spelling seems incorrect to me. I'd write it "surfEctant" to mean something that one uses to clean up or wash up dirty surfaces of most things.

If my slightly different definition/spelling of the term is acceptable, I'd like to submit a new word for our game.

The word is: "Gorgeous"

My spelling was correct. Your definition was close. A substance dissolved in water that reduces it's surface tension.

Gorgeous - having great/splendid beauty.

Deferring the next word to 2SS Bumblebee as I think that surfactant wasn't correctly defined by others. (spelling was correct, as was his definition ... recalled it from antiquated chemistry ... surfactant = surface active agent).

Give us a new word please, 2SS!

I believe it's a newish word that indicates a campfire confection heated over the open flame that consists of marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate. Yum yum.

Regarding "surfactant", I never contested the spelling, only MY recollection of the spelling did not coīncide and thus cast doubt on my definition. I am happy it all worked out. You guys are always such smarty-pants.

New word: "marrow".

Yeah, I accept your definition, though that was really for s'more (which is kinda an offshoot of smore ... which actually means ... smother - makes sense, graham cracker and marshmallows smothered in chocolate! Yum indeed!)

marrow = innermost or core. As in bone marrow, the soft stuff in the center of major bones.

new word = "recalcitrant"

It means stubbornness, a refusal to change one's ways to the nth degree. I've overheard school administers grumble about "recalcitrant" teachers unwilling to bow down to the administrator's latest whim.

By the way, I thought maybe someone would define "marrow" in its vegetal sense: a zucchini (an anglicism).

New word: "Mace" (not the teargas stuff )
