A 50-state street legal, 5 year/100K mile warranty S/C kit for the SS!

This thing is sweet. Saw it on Hot Rod TV today. A complete 50-state street legal, 5 year, 100K mile warranty, supercharger setup with programmer, fuel system, everything. puts out 545 hp they stated on the show.

The warranty bit caught my eye.

The limits are not horrible, but not great either.

From the PDF about the warranty:

LIMITS OF LIABILITY
TIER ONE’S MAXIMUM LIABILITY PER COVERED VEHICLE UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO $8,000.00.
THIS REPRESENTS THE TOTAL OF THE INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT GROUPS’
LIABILITY AS FOLLOWS:
ENGINE COMPONENTS ARE COVERED TO A MAXIMUM OF $5000.00,
TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS ARE COVERED TO A MAXIMUM OF $1500.00
AND REAR AXLE COMPONENTS ARE COVERED TO A MAXIMUM OF $1500.

It listed the components from the SC kit in there as well, just did not copy and paste that part.

I was about to say, uh, am I using different math?

So basically, the only way the warranty will ever pay out $8000 is if the supercharger blows all three things at the same time? Am I assuming correct?

If the supercharger costs more than 5k, then that warranty is BS to start with, right? Or are they saying in addition to the supercharger itself, the warranty ALSO includes up to $xx amount of the rest of the car?

Either way, we all know if you destroy one of these blocks, you're going to be paying way more than 5k...

Thats just a vendor covering his backside. Almost all performance parts will have that or "for off road use only" on it somewhere.

You are correct, if the engine, trans, and rear end go out at the same time, or at different times, the warranty will only pay $8k in repairs.

Or if the engine blows two separate times, and each time the bill to fix it is $4,500, you'll have to eat the $4k left over from the second issue.
The warranty repair amounts are a total over the life of the warranty, not per occurrence.

Who would have thought I actually learned something from working for a sleezy aftermarket car warranty place.

And the more detailed info on what is covered from the PDF...
It looks like they may be lumping the SC kit into the $5k for the engine.

WARRANTY COVERAGE

When a Kit is correctly and completely installed by a certified Ford or General Motors automotive dealership, an Edelbrock certified
installer, or by a automotive service technician certified by the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) at an automotive
repair facility with a valid business license, on an eligible, legally registered and licensed vehicle, we will cover the repair and/or
replacement of failed components, as specified below, during the term of this warranty provided you follow the activation procedure
listed above, as solely determined by Tier One.

If a failure of any of the above parts damages either the engine
block or cylinder heads, a remanufactured long block assembly will be provided up to the maximum coverage of $5000.00.

Non-Covered Any engine components not specifically listed, including but not limited to, electrical components, seals & gaskets,
polished finish on SUPERCHARGER – as well as parts, filters, fluids etc., that are required to be replaced as a part of your
vehicle’s normal maintenance schedule as published by the manufacturer.

The "competition kit" is basically a "tuner kit"...leaves out certain components, injectors, tune ect...making it no longer qualify as "street legal" as the kit would not be as tested for CARB certification.

As for the warranty...looks to me like it has to be purchased...$775 for the 60mo/100k
Also just some other tidbits the kit must be installed by a GM Dealer,Edlebrock certified installer or ASE certified installer ect ect...

As for the block it says if the heads or block are damaged by failure of one of the covered parts the warranty will pay up 5,000 toward a "remanufactured long block"
