So did you do a run at all with just the Vararam? Would of liked to seen it and then the tune afterwards just to get an idea of what the Vararam was doing by itself.

no, it was a cool night...60deg, 44% humidity.

I actually did a previous baseline pull about a month ago on a mustang dyno on a hellishly humid day...and got 359hp/363tq...so it just goes to show you that all dyno's are different.

....+46hp/+57tq with the CAI AND a tune is believable and realistic. 40 hp from JUST a CAI……….. not so believable! GREAT job Mike and Chuck. Can’t wait to see the numbers with the AR LTs!

I'm pretty sure this version wont run right without the tune.

Nice Mike, I am not the least bit surprised. That test drive you took me on said it all. By the way, did you find all my loose change in your seat yet??

Again, just ask the guys who have tuned the M6. There is almost zero gain from just a tune. I'm sure Chuck Cow can attest. This really shows how restrictive the stock box is.

Great results! Like Mike said, all runs were last night within the same hour, No road test between intake and tune swaps. Right there on the rollers.

The bigger results are from our extensive street tune of the NEW VR RACE UNIT...To my surprise, the mid and top end of the RPM scale required almost no adjustment from the street tune, while (as we suspected...) the 3,500 and down area was a bit rich because the car was not actually moving and we didn't allow any time for the fuel trims to correct the calibration after the intake swap.

Had we taken the car off the dyno, and driven it for 20 mins, the trims would have kicked in with some correction and the low end HP and Torque would have improved nicely.

Regardless, the results were exactly what we were hoping for and I think that this unit is gonna find itself at the top of the COLD AIR INTAKE FOOD CHAIN just as the way VARARAM products dominate the Corvette world.

So far as I'm aware, the production unit is just around the corner and will absolutely be worth the wait!

What's gonna be different between last night's VARARAM results and the results you would see between the My street tune and the dyno????

Well, as I said earlier, the low speed TORQUE and HP should come up sharply after the car is street driven and the fuel trims get caught up cause the AFR on the low end was far richer than my logs of the street tune were. Another point to realize: While we're totally pleased with the WOT results from the dyno, you need to realize that this intake system is AN AIRFLOW MONSTER which gobbles up air the faster you go!

What that means is that your "REAL WORLD" results with MY tune and this intake system should improve on the top end when the vehicle is tuned at SPEED on the street.

STAY TUNED! for next weeks dyno results of Mike's ongoing progress with the addition of a set of AMERICAN RACING 1 7/8 LONG TUBE HEADERS and a CAT BACK system!

...AND BACK TO THE DYNO!!!

Stay TUNED!
Chuck CoW
As no one has the guts, Are you saying that to get the best numbers on a CAI you need to drive the car some amount of MI and can not only clear the fuel trims numbers and go,? As that is what was told to us all, and i found it to be more then 20 mi.

BWHAHAHA, trying to prove you were right eh?

Read his words again, especially the part you red highlighted, he said LOW END RANGE. He said NOTHING about getting more peak HP which is what the Jannety test tested for.

Please keep your personal vendetta out of other peoples USEFUL threads.

Now back to our regular viewing.

I think what we need to find out from Chuck is how much his tune increased the lower RPM ranges. If he is not creating those big gains then the Vararam is a killer product.

We have to admit that off the line torque and HP is what is really needed and most of us will feel in butt-o-meter every day. Peak HP and torque is great and all but I want to see how it affects the car in day in day out driving. Sure would like to see a L99 car tested with a no tune Vararam.
