Exclamation Straight Piped LS3...Resonator Delete?

So I have a 2011 Camaro SS manual transmission and it has the mufflers removed. It sounds good but not too loud. I don't plan on doing anything expensive to exhaust anytime soon. I know headers but not now.

What I want to know is what will happen if I remove the resonator on my straightpiped camaro?

1) Will it make a big difference in sound? ie: loudness and tone (MAIN QUESTION)

2) Will it decrease performance?

Is this called true dual?

Thanks..

You need to leave a crossover pipe of some sort inline. It's been proven that you'll lose HP and Tq if you go true straight pipes. OEM is a H pipe but most go X pipe when they upgrade the exhaust. Either is fine as long as you have one.

So does taking off resonator get the h-pipe taken off too? Also, why do they upgrade to xpipe?

If you have a A6, the resonator section has the H pipe within it. If you have a M6, you can cut the resonators out and still leave the H pipe. You can't miss it. It's the only part of the exhaust where they two sides merge. It's right behind the resonators. As for why they change to a X pipe is purely preference and availability. X pipes are all over the place and they have a little more "exotic" sound, over a classic H pipe.

Whenever I hear a car without resonators the raspiness hurts my ears because it sounds so terrible. That's why I still have the stock ones even though I have no cats or mufflers. Much cleaner sound.

Ok thanks for all the info but I'm still unclear about something. Is removing the resonator worth it? Like will it make it a lot louder? (M6)

I have a straight piped, stock exhaust on my Camaro, and it sounds good to me! I always have people ask me when exhaust or what cam I have in my car, and I chuckle when I say "It's the stock exhaust" And About losing power, I have a Centrifugal S/C, and I don't believe having straight pipes decreased any power...

Do you have resonators deleted?

Just remove the H pipe and resonators and get this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111059722231...84.m1497.l2649

Just installed it on my car; sounds great. I have Borla S type also though.

Why not just buy the one made by magnaflow?

I didn't actually know magnaflow made on for the camaro. Are you speaking of the universal X pipe? The one I linked to you is made specifically for the Camaro and is a direct replacement. On the L99 you just cut the stock resonator off directly in front and behind it and clamp the X-pipe on. You can get the aluminized steel one from jegs for $99
