#5 bow bent

around the back of the car the top doesn't seal. My dealer here is pretty good but turns out the 2012 SS with 9,000 miles I purchased in Tulsa 2 months ago was sold in Nov of 2011 so the 36k or 3 yr. Warranty is up.
So now What? they say $800 to fix the #5 bow. Are there any other options?

I couldn't have been sold in Nov of 2011, they didn't start building the convertibles until the last week of Jan or the first week of Feb of 2012. They made it to dealers in early March. It still may be out of warranty though. Was it a certified pre-owned? They come with 12 months? I would take it to a trim shop and see if they can do it any cheaper. The chevy dealer farmed out my top replacement to a local trim shop that does a lot of convertible tops and it turned out great.

Convertibles came out in 2011 not 2012

Mine was built feb 12 and they were out for a year prior

Correct on the 2011. Mine was ordered in Nov 2010 and built in Feb. 2011. Took delivery in March 2011.

Fellow C5 member ToddB replaced a broken 5th bow on his '11 vert himself.

If you're mechanically inclined, doing it yourself will at least save you the cost of labor.

From the photos, though, it doesn't look like it's for the faint of heart.

Your right, I answered before I had my first cup of coffee. I was a year off.

Ya if your good with wrenches its not to bad. Took me 6 hrs to do the job. Gm covered the part under warranty. There is a known problem with weak 5th bows in 2011 model years.

contact GM and ask for some assistance. The concern you have has been seen on several cars.

How would I contact GM and do you really think they will do anything being that the car is past it's warranty period.

Hey SSmyers,

Please feel free to message us on the forum more details on your concern. Along with your VIN, exact mileage, contact info, and involved dealer. We'd be happy to look into it further, and assist if possible.
