Unhappy lowering my car, blown strut

so i lowered my car last week with BMR split drop springs and i went in for an aligment today (aobut 8 days after droping it) and the tech shows me how my driver side rear strut is leaking now! Is this a common problem after lowering or did i do something wrong? FYI i timmed my bushing the day after i lowered it.

What bushing did you trim? We don't recommend trimming the bump stops so if you did and took quite a bit off then there is a chance the shock bottomed out or over-extended itself. I have never had an issue with one of our customers having a strut/shock leak after installing any of our lowering springs. Maybe it was just an isolated issue with the rear shock itself?

i didnt trim anything as per your install instruction, i timmed (reclocked) the bushing your site call out. I have seen threads of complete stock cars blown out their struts and i just wanted to be sure it was not a error on my part and that it was a faulty strut.

Sorry I must have misread your original post. If I had to guess I would asy it is a issue with the shock. We have tons of our lowering springs out there and have yet to have this issue. Also with all the other lowering springs out there you very rarely see a strut/shock issue which also leads me back to thinking it is a faulty shock.

Bad Strut. The problem now is that the dealer will not cover the strut due to the lowering springs.

See if a member on here who has replaced his shocks with coilovers might be willing to sell you a pair.
