Tune or not to tune?

Hey guys, I installed a K&N CAI and Flowmaster american thunder cat back system on my 2010 SS. Should I have the car tuned? The AFM is also driving me crazy when it turns on at 45 mph the car vibrates. I have been manually shifting the auto trans to help this. Lastly should I be getting better than 13.7 mpg on the highway? speed limit is 70 here & I will run about 77mph. The only reason for asking this is that my 2500 Duramax gets better highway milage. So should I have the AFM turned off? Will tuning help fuel milage?

Thanks for the help.

Ummm I get 29mpg highway @ 75mph lol.

Yes it's a 2010. It's time for a tune. Especially with those mods. You'll get the most out of your mods and improve your mpg. Also, not have to deal with AFM.

For no reason, other than you're driving in rush hour, should you get 13.7mpgh

Before you tune out your AFM, consider this. Many of us L99 drivers have one and LOVE it!

I would add though, if you're already out of warranty you may want to just tune the AFM out. At least now you have a choice, thanks to the folks at Range.

(and I personally believe MPGs are better with the Range AFM Disable device) See my review here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=11

you car shakes when AFM is active? Do you have powertrain warranty left? It shouldn't shake the whole car.....or are you exaggerating for forum sake?

Might wanna take it in and see if your AFM lifters haven't crapped out yet, and make sure there's nothing else going on internally wrong in your engine before more mods or a tune

oh no....you can't say that. you don't know how he drives. MPG is WAY more driver based than engine based.

When did your MPG start to suck like that? Should be betting over 20 MPG on the highway or even better.

Now that's a realistic reply. I suggest always resetting your computer when checkng the mileage.
I've never gotten much over 24 MPG, and that's really trying using cruise control/65-70 MPH, etc.
The OP @ 13.7 hwy seems way low.

His warranty isn't dead. Still 2 years left.
But, do it anyway.

Your mileage should not be that bad. Do you have a heavy foot when accelerating from stops?

I just bought the car 4 weeks ago. I drove it from the west coast to east coast bone stock and the computer said 13.7 mpg. Installed my upgrades and still 13.7mpg. I drove to Orlando this weekend & she used a 1/4 tank each way. About 115 miles each way. I don't drive her to hard I have a cdl to protect. This past week end was all cruise control for the most part.

You said about resetting the computer, how do I do that? My wife's Tahoe shows you your real time mpg as you drive.
