The mechanics stethoscope batteries can be found with the blinker fluid at AutoZone.

No change as far as finding the noise. I could still hear it better outside the stethescope.

My klunk I'm almost certain now is in the center of the two shafts. The rattling still sounds like it's in the driveshaft up front.

That rattling sounds to me like something just loose and bouncing off the metal housing. Is there any type of an opening in these driveshafts where a little pebble could find it's way in there? Is the driveshaft hollow where that could happen?

Thanks for the pics, Never Satisfied

I doubt it's a coincidence the thumping noise is in sync with 2 of the 3 coupler bolts.... hopefully you'll find and e-brake cable or loose plate/shield making all that clanking racket, seems too loud to be internal (trans)

Do the e-brake cables run thru the tunnel? If so, can you see them when you rotate the D/S? Also could put pressure on heat shields while turning, see if the noise changes.

puss-pull-twist the D/S see if there's any play?

Ok. THIS is where I'd bet the klunk is coming from. Maybe one of those bracket bolts came off or loose? THAT would be a good thing. Well, considering.

No play at all other than ratating play. And that's normal. BUT, I can only grab a small part until I get that heat sheild off. I can say there is no movement at the tranny or at the diff. I need to get ot the center joint and see.

This is at the tranny. Regular play but I swear I can duplicate one of the tumbling clicks. Maybe not. Gotta wait to this weekend.

Turn your volume up. What is that last click? Now I'm getting curious. I gotta tear it apart to see.
