Unfortunately stuff like this happens a lot here. Not sure why. I asked a similar question a while ago. Started a thread asking why do threads get closed with no explanation as to why it was closed. Got the same similar response that's given here. Don't question the mods, they don't have to explain anything ect. And ironically that thread got closed with no explanation. Go figure.

IBTL x3. Seems like most have been getting closed because it descends into bashing another forum member.

Just suggesting that was a personal comment, sarcastic or not. And if I'm not mistaken, that is one of the rules. Although I appreciate your defense of the defenders.

Like it or not, the mods.......all of them........have been very consistent in the application of these rules over the 2 1/2 years I've been a member.

This isn't a "public" forum. Many think freedom of speech, etc. applies to posting and starting threads. Doesn't quite work that way. You are a member here and agree to abide by those rules in order to post.

I've been in some pretty heated and passionate discussions on some threads and I've never had a post deleted. Stay on topic and don't get personal.

There, in before the lock.

Why not create a 18+ section like most other forums which would be policed a little less?

A thread usually gets closed when its felt that the discussion cannot be saved by removing the offending posts. Sometimes the posts are left, sometimes they're removed. If they're removed, it becomes very difficult for people to go back and see what caused the problem.

But I do take exception to the idea that lots of threads are getting closed. I checked a page or two from several sections at random and found that a mere 5 out of a total of 480 had been closed. I don't consider 1% to be a significant amount, do you?

It would if the 1% were cyanide.
