So my question is - what production volume creates the impression that there are too many? When does it lose it's "speciality" such that someone would turn away from buying one? |

they need to produce enough that lowers the cost, and meets demand. people don't want too many to be made because they want to have the product no one else has. they want the attention because they have it. I say screw that just give me the Z28 and let me drive it like it was built for. (assuming a lot about the z28 in that last sentence). if I wanted a status symbol I would set my sights higher. ie ZR1. with as much I spend deployed I certainly could get one. but this elitist crap kills me. |

read around. there are plenty of threads that people explain what Z28 means to them.

depends on what you consider special. plus 2 it hasn't been officially announced and we have no idea what it will actually be. besides bad ass.

Well producing 20,302 Z/28s in the '69 model year certainly didn't seem to diminish or take away anything from the Z/28 name and/or heritage. I don't see any reason to limit the numbers unless someone is looking for "snob appeal", do you also have concerns about how many SS Camaros they make or is your concern only with the Z/28?

I dont think they'll wait at all, I already own an 2SS and I'll be getting a Z28 as soon as their available. The car will probably be 45-50k its just a handful of people who can actually afford it.
Thats why it wont hurt sales for the camaro, I'm taking huge bets that the V6 will eventually pass the SS in sales.

Sound reasoning for sure. I also think that with the amount of enthusiasts and Z hopefulls that we have around here, SOMEONE will know ahead of time when they will start production/selling. Either way I hope to be near the top of the list at my dealer. The only thing that may prevent me from buying one ASAP is a potential SEP 2010 deployment. Either way it will be mine....oh yes...it will be mine!!! |

I'm sure they will come out with a Z-28. I understand their will always be something faster however, if it doesn't have 550+ HP to put the GT 500 in check...they can keep it. I'll just roll with the 2SS and keep saving for the Vette.

Lets look at the logisticsof the Z28- 1. There is an early photo of Sung yup lee working on a clay model which badging on the grille clearly shows it to be a Z28. 2. there were artist conception drawings of the proposed Z28. This to me indicates that the plans were laid for the Z28 option, but was dropped due to current economic conditions. The Z28 will come back I believe in the next year or two after everything settles back down with the economy. But.....the idea was still there none the less, now how the idea develops into a finished product, the design staff will dictate. Will it be a V-6 twin turbo, a normally aspirated LS-7, or maybe even a (gasp) blown LSA or LS-9? Who knows, only the engineers and corporate management will dictate this descision. Time will tell, and we will see.
