It's an option on the GT500 with the SVT Performance Package, unless that is a different Torsen diff.

I've been running synthetic in my dime for the whole time. No ill effects.

There is nothing but metal in the unit I can't see a reason to NOT use synthetic.

I do know back in the 4th Gen days there was a complaint of a "rusty nail sound" what ever that is. The solution was to run friction modifier for a clutch differential.

DTS (drive train specilist) here in Michigan sells the Trutrac for $545 and $250 installed if you give them/ship them the diff......

Mine will be installed over the winter!

Dunno, their website says not to but not why. Its possible a standard fluid for break-in and then switching to synthetic after 500 miles would be fine.

I know this is really old but thought i'd update it with some info I found for you guys in case anybody else stumbles across this post during searching.

The 5th gen Truetrac is designed to work with stock and aftermarket 32-spline rear axles, and will also accept any 218-milimeter ring and pinion set with the same flange height as the stock gear set.
Another unique consideration for the new Camaro is that it does not use synthetic gear oil like the stock differential, or any kind of friction modifier or additive for that matter. The reason for this might seem strange, but synthetics gear oil and friction modifiers are actually too slippery for the pinion gears in the Truetrac. They need a small amount of resistance to bite together properly, so Eaton designed the Truetrac to work with plain ‘ol conventional 80W-90 gear oil.

Rear Gears need to ware in and become a matched set, the better they lap it the better the gears operate, lower temps, and they get quieter. If you only use synthetic oil they do not break in..

It's the same rear as the SS with 3.91 gears like a 1LE with the addition of a cooler.

So the same aluminum rear end housing, with what ever diameter gears. I think it's 8.5 to 9 inches but I'm honestly not sure.
