do i need a new fuel pump

so my camaro will shut of in the middle of the road sometimes but will start right back up after like 10 mins and when i hit the gas pedal the car doesn't accelerate right it will go real slow until i finally get around 40 mph. but when i stop at a stop sign or a red light it just does it again. I think i need a new fuel pump and a new icm am i right.

Try changing out the fuel filter first. if that doesnt change your simptoms then go with the fuel pump.

there is a small piece of rubber hose, about 1.5" long, that connects the pump to the pickup tube. Had it turn to sponge about 120k on both camaros ive owned. 89RS and 91RS. They would kinda run, but stumble under acceleration. Gotta drop the tank to do the fix, might as well do the pump too, the tank is a pain to drop. I had to do my first one through the top, cut a big access hole in the floor under the carpet. DOH!! Rockauto.com has pretty decent prices, thats where I get all my stock parts.
