Want something done right, you have to do it yourself! For a regular car, I am with you. I am a diesel mechanic. I have never, ever done my own oil change on my truck. Can't be bothered. The Camaro is different. It is expensive enough at the dealer, I think you save enough money to make it worth your time to do yourself. The price you paid is the cheapest I have heard of yet. Most dealers have some young kid doing the oil changes. Dealers are still learning thing about the Camaro's. I would be surprised if most new how much and what type of oil they are supposed to have.

Thanks. I just hope it helps a few members around here. Oil changes are a very straight forward thing, but it seems to scare a lot of people. I just like saving money and I sleep well knowing it got done right.

I just did my oil change yesterday. Took a little longer than expected but being my first time to do it myself, that's expected.

I bought the recommended oil plug with magnet and the first thing I noticed is that it has a metal washer instead of the little blue-ish soft rubber washer on the factory plug. Any issues anyone see with that? I did torque down the new oil plug to 18 ft/lbs so I'm not too worried about leaks but not sure if it offers the same seal as the rubber washer...

The washer would be fine. Just keep your factory plug for a spare. Keep an eye on the new plug for leaks.

I have been running this plug for around 4k miles and have had no problems. During my initial oil change I used the washer provided with the magnetic plug. On my last oil change I went to Autozone and bought a pack of 3 rubberized washers that work very well. It is my recommendation to change the crush washer at each oil change.

Hey, how long was the shipping time when you ordered your oil pan plug? I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and nothing yet. I am in Canada, but normally I get stuff from the States way before this. Actually I received my FilterMag today and I ordered that only two weeks ago.

I got mine within a week or so. Just email the guy or call them up. They were real helpful with me and I imagine that they will be the same way with you.
