Getting a backup key?
How can I go about getting a backup key for my camaro now with the recall?
I only have one set of keys for my 2010 and just don't feel great about that. I would like to get one or two back up sets. I do t want to lose my switchblade I have now and afraid if I go to dealer they will make me turn it in? Any help here? TIA

Go on eBay and purchase a blank key for 12$ go to a shop to get it cut and program it yourself. I was thinking about doing that. I keep pressing the switch blade on my new SS ONLY TO FIND THAT NOTHING FLIPS!

Do you have a link? Are they the oem switchblades or "similar". Also what do you need to program one at home? As I mentioned o only have the one switchblade key programmed. Will that work?

he needs everything. hes only got the one fob. Your dealer can not make you do the recall. its voluntary. call the dealer and ask if they can order you one. my dealer said they were only $30 for them to get one now. They said they can get it but i haven't ordered a 3rd key so its not a sure thing.

I think it takes an expensive machine to cut a Camaro Key, many locksmiths may not be capable.

and expect to pay for it, I had 2 switchblade keys done to replace the idiot recall keys, ~$35 to cut the two.

Can I program a new one (either through dealer or ebay and cut from locksmith) if I only have one current switch blade programmed to car?
