Guy on CF just made 1105rwhp through a 4L80 on a Ysi. Don't under estimate them. They are great blowers. That being said, TT rules.

Blake, any idea how fast the blower is spinning? I have no idea how to calculate cog tooth count to blower speed. I'm trying to figure out how fast you are spinning it to make those numbers. I want about the same out of my car on the same dyno. Running a 8.0 crank 2.85" upper currently.

The formula I use is:
# of crank teeth/# of blower teeth X 3.45 (ysi step up ratio) X max rpm

My numbers are:
77/27x3.45x7200=70840

It also works for inches.
I *think* my crank cog is 7.8 inches in diameter, blower is 2.75.
With those numbers
7.8/2.75x3.45x7200=70455

Those figures are within 1% of each other so I would say the formulas are fairly accurate.

I realize that is above the 65k recommended by vortech but over on yellowbullet.com, there are guys spinning them to 80k, although they say not for very long. Vortech has also stated the ysi is the most forgiving blower they have.

Regardless, it is moving some air!

Good to know. I'm spinning mine to 69726 according to vortech. I hope to hit that dyno in a week or two so hopefully I can crank 1000rwhp too. Looks like I may need to swap to a 2.75 and run it at 72500 but maybe not. The one that made 1100+ through and auto was spinning it to 77k.

I did some math and using the 80T crank and 26T blower, that would spin it around 76xxx. You could always adapt a procharger pulley like I did to get bigger for the crank.

Mines in a vette, so not that easy. Already got an 8.0" crank pulley. I could drop to a 2.75" upper easy enough and put the blower in the 72k range.

Plus I have 50 cubes, and PRC 285cc LS7 heads, Ls7 intake manifold, etc that should help.

You will love the turbos. AGP is owned by two of my best friends and they make great stuff. CPR has my car right now doing my fuel system, and Joe is a good guy. He will make sure this car is good and you are happy.

You should reach the 1K mark by spinning it faster. If that still isn't enough, Steve Morris motorsports has a volute that clamps on (space permitting) where he guarantees at least a 25hp gain or he will buy it back. It isn't cheap though - $800 if I remember correctly.

I cannot express in words how much I am anticipating getting the car back with turbos.

I saw your car yesterday blake-b. Pretty sweet. I would say the Ysi is happier on the smaller cubes and thats why it's over 1000rwhp. I've got a T trim on my Vette currently. We are taking it to the dyno today to see what it does on a stock bottom end LS3. It's set to do 60,480rpm at 7,000rpm engine speed. Joe just installed the cam this week and a new Bosch 044 pump to replace a failed Walbro 255.

My junk:

Nice vette! I am gonna get the wife a C5 or C6 in a couple of years. Is that matte green or gray?

The Ysi was set up to spin just over 70k at 7200rpm.

Holy Crap! I just read on yellowbullet, 1388hp was made with a Ysi..
