Congrats on getting your modded GT500 to 10s. You now run what C6 Z06s run bone stock. Hopefully you don't run into a Z06 with mods and a competent driver. ZR1 is a whole different beast and the GT500 isn't even worth mentioning in the same breath.

What have you been smoking?

I've raced close to a dozen ZO6's and haven't seen one of them run under 11.8 and the new ZR1 is rated 11.3. However, your on the right track with the procharger and forged internals.. Doesnt the LSA have beefier rods?? BTW i sold my ZO6 because it couldn't hold a candle to the GT500.. Now I believe we all just want a Camaro that doesn't need new internals right of of the showroom to handle some decent boost.. Thats what this thread is all about.

Looks like you've been racing some shitty drivers!

Also, there's no need to even mention the ZR1. A properly driven stock ZR1 would put buslengths on your modded GT500.

I'm sorry you sold your Z06 for a Mustang. In terms of it "not holding a candle" to the Mustang - in what areas? Stock for stock it's a drivers race - 01 Z06s have gone low to mid 12s stock. The Z06 blows the GT500 away when it comes to handling. The Z06s has a more quality interior than the GT500. Looks are subjective but I don't know of many people who think a Mustang looks better than a Corvette. Moddability is the only thing I can think of where the GT500 beats the Vette. But hey if you're happy then that's all that matters right?

The main point is that the mustang, and Camaro have always been the USA's most popular muscle cars, and rivalry. Now that the Mustang GT500 w/ a few mods is beating ZO6's most of the time. This should be more than enough incentive for GM to make something to compete w/ it's nemisis rival the Shelby GT500 mustang.. Thats what we all want on here. Or at least most of us.

Nice bullshit statement. Just because you ran into a few Z06 drivers that didn't know what they were doing doesn't mean anything. It takes more that just a "few mods" to get the GT500 to even run neck and neck with a stock Z06 -and that's just physics. It's called power to weight. You're talking about a car that has run a best of 10.9 against a car that has run a best of 12.2 bone stock. And that 12.2 is skewed because there's like ONE report of 12.2 and that was Evan Smith in mineshaft sea level air. The rest of the clowns in GT500s havent gotten better than mid to high 12s stock and that's what 03 Cobras ran! What joke!

Stock for stock it's not even close. If you mod the GT500, you can mod the Z06. The Z06 is a superior vehicle in EVERY WAY SHAPE AND FORM. Ford should just bring back the Ford GT cuz neither the GT500 nor the KR can even come close to the Z06 in performance.

Maybe you should educate yourself before you spout off a bunch of bullshit and make yourself look ignorant.

Some of you folks are missing a very big point here.. For $1500 in mods the GT500 is an 11.5 second car.. The fact is thats what we want from the new Camaro or somewhere in the ball park right???

11.5 in the quarter is not a Z06 beater. Maybe a poorly driven Z06, but there are a lot of STOCK Z06s that will blow you out of the water if you are runnin 11.5s. I provided you the link of BONE STOCK Z06s that have run as fast as 10.9. Doesn't seem to me like you understand what I posted.

The GT500 is a fat, bloated, ugly, overpriced, underperforming piece of junk with a Fisher Price interior. Anyone who pays $40k+ for that hunk of crap and then starts comparing it to a world class car like a Z06 is a moron. It's like comparing a dog turd to a sunset.

Now that the Mustang GT500 w/ a few mods is beating ZO6's most of the time. This should be more than enough incentive for GM to make something to compete w/ it's nemisis rival the Shelby GT500 mustang.. Thats what we all want on here. Hopefully you don't run into a Z06 with mods and a competent driver. ZR1 is a whole different beast and the GT500 isn't even worth mentioning in the same breath. Just messin with ya. What have you been smoking? I've raced close to a dozen ZO6's and haven't seen one of them run under 11.8 and the new ZR1 is rated 11.3. However, your on the right track with the procharger and forged internals.. Doesnt the LSA have beefier rods?? BTW i sold my ZO6 because it couldn't hold a candle to the GT500.. Now I believe we all just want a Camaro that doesn't need new internals right of of the showroom to handle some decent boost..
