I'm a little slow when it comes to all this so I just need quick clarification. I see that the recommended rim size on a 275/40R20 tire is 20x9-9.5 but does this mean I can't put that same tire on a 20x10" rim? What problems if any might I run into?

If I lower the car by 1" can I use 20x8.5 with 265-40 on the front and 20x10 with 295-35 tires on the rear without any problems. Can I use 305-35 on the rear? I am looking at the Ruff 680 wheels. I need help

if they won't rub after lowering, i'd go with a 275/40 on the front and a 315/35 on the rear, they would be the closest to stock diameter so they don't mess with your speedo, and ABS!! someone with a lowered car will have to chime in to let you know how much clearance will be lost???

In the preceeding chart of wheel sizes, 245 and 255mm tires don't fit 9" rims? If so, then why does the Challenger SRT8 come standard with 245 fronts and 255 rears, both on 9" rims? Why does the Mustang GT come with 255's on 9" rims all the way around? Why does Tire Rack recommend 9" rims for 245mm tires. They said 7.5 thru 9" will work. I bought a second set of 9" rims for the front of my 2010 Camaro SS and mounted the stock 245's and it looks great. Brought the front wheels out 3/10's inch. with a deeper dish. Yes, trust me, 3/10" makes a difference. Now the fronts and rears are equally close to the fender lip. Got the rims on E Bay for $150 each.

"Fitting" and "Recommended" are two different things. Many tires will fit many wheels, but that doesn't mean I'd recommend it. Various manufacturers and various tire lines also have their own recommended wheel width fitments, so please just consider my list as a general one.

So being the wheel noob that I am, hopefully someone more knowledgeable can answer this question.

The new wheels I want come in 20x9 and 20x10.5. Judging by the chart posted by the OP, I would need to get new front tires since I should stay at 20x8-8.5?
