Any one remove radiator drain plug?
Hey, Has anyone completely removed their radiator drain (see o see Kay). Mines leaking so I want to have a look at the oring but it's not like most that you just unthread all the way. Just wondering if its like turn back one turn then pull or ?? I haven't attempted yet because I'm away from the car for work and won't be back till Tuesday. Just trying to get some ideas before hand thanks!!

Also is it typical for these to be extremely stiff? Like I have to use pliers... My old cars where always brass drains that open super easy.

I took mine completely out during an engine rebuild. It leaked. I then got a "similar" one from the HELP! section but it too leaked. I had to order a new one from GM. Oh the joy of walking into an auto parts store trying to be macho, yet asking for a new "petcock." I don't even want to hear about your stiff petcock!

Bring up this thread again because I can't seem to get mine to drain nor get the the petcock to come out. Just get it to turn and that's all. Nothing drains. Is their a hose I can remove to drain it and flush out the system instead?

Radiator Cap off I assume? Should drain - if not, could take off the oil cooler hose by the lower pulley drivers side...

Not turning it far enough grab a pair of pliers and some wd 40 spray and turn it back in forth to work lube in then your cock should drain

I've turned the tab 3 full circles to the left and nothing is coming out of the drain. Maybe I need to turn it more? Turn it all the way out?

Mine doesn't work either. I just take off the lower hose and let it drain that way. No point in taking a chance on breaking the petcock unless you don't care if it breaks.

Mine was the same way. The o-ring was torn and jammed the petcock up. Pull it out and find a matching o-ring at Ace.... No leaks now...

I'm assuming I still have that hose down by the pulley. I'll have to get under and look because the last time I vaguely glanced under there, previous owner had an oil cooler delete done.
