The steering wheel is obviously a response to every single reviewer of the car bitching about the awkwardness of the original wheel. GM is just trying to respond to complaints and make things more ergonimically friendly.
I guess with everyone pushing them to rush this car out as soon as possible, they didn't have time to engineer its own wheel from scratch. I doubt you're going to be staring at the wheel while you're hurtling down the road at unbelieveable speeds anyway. |

That's a hot car right there...
...and definitely what I saw a couple weeks ago at the tech center.

I almost bet that it was going to be called Z/28, but when the Boss 302 was announced Chevy had to kind of follow the same lines and call this beast the ZL1 like the first gen cars. Like everyone is saying though, that just means that the Z28 will be out to compete with the Boss.

GM had a great marketing team back in the 50's and 60's...the entire country would literally shut down and watch a t.v. show or line up outside of dealers awaiting the covers to be removed from the NEW cars in the showroom...then the dealer would sit down with you and write up the order...a few weeks later, the car was IN YOUR HANDS. Now? YEARS. The ZL1 has 100,000 miles on the Nurburgring by now...it is tested hard...the platform is DONE...the Engine has been tested ad naseum...also the mag ride...GIVE US THE DAMNED THING ALREADY! Looks great by the way! And Motor Trend, Car and Driver, et al....we know.. you hate the view out of the car and you find the A-pillar obtrusive, the interior sub par to the $1,000,000 Bugatti you tested yesterday, and the on star mirror a joke...beyond that...how does it DRIVE?

Looks great, and I'm glad they're calling it ZL1.
Can't help but laugh at the posts in here about "ZL1 having no history" Wow guys, go read a book...

For all of you wondering how GM is gonna resolve the ZL1 name and SLP, don't you think that has already been taken care of? Seriously, why would they bring this car out if things were not settled about that. You heard it here. IT'S A NON FACTOR!!!!!

Oh yeah, GM is the leader in teasing us with concepts and then never making a production piece.
