I got the GM subwoofer option (by MTX). It helped a lot on the low end. That plus playing with the EQ. Still isn't great by any means, but I wanted to leave the car original with only GM parts. I probably could easily get a better sound system for less, but it's not my DD, and the windows are usually down and the exhaust sound is up!

I have no idea. I think the whole system is cheap and trash. The priority was/is vehicle performance. Nothing else mattered. :(

Agreed, but honestly the stereo is weak. In the convertible you can turn it up full blast with the top down and you wish it was twice as loud. I just came out of a 300C SRT8 with the Kicker sub system. It was MUCH louder and MUCH clearer. But not nearly as much fun to drive around corners.

No aftermarket system you can purchase in my opinion can rival the factory Mylink touch screen radio and you are giving up more than you're gaining in changing it out, unless you are talking about a 2012 radio.

I used the ******** fark, their dual 12 inch enclosure, this Rockford Fosgate P1000X5 Amp and 2, Rockford Fosgate P1S2-12's.

The amp provided an extremely nice improvement in the factory speakers. However the subs I can tell are underpowerd, I had a JVC mono amp in there and running subs only while I was waiting on the RF one to come in and it was hitting hard. That said it's probably exactly what 2ncd chance is looking for (with less bass). Just note that this amp will not fit in the factory location. I mounted mine on the back of the sub box after it was in the trunk making it accessible from the front of the car by putting down the back seat.

I will probably add a mono amp to my system just for the Subs eventually, for now the improvement in the factory speakers and having low end bass now makes me happy...

BTW, if your trying to find an amp/subs that will run with the factory speakers. You should know that the stock Boston Acoustic speakers are 2 Ohms.

What speakers should I get for the doors and small rear seat ones? I have the ******** with Fark and 10" Kicker sub with JL 700/5 AMP. Doesn't sound to bad now but I want more!

And what exactly are you giving up?
Most of the stuff doesn't even work without an active Onstar and XM account. I actually feel that I was flat ripped off by GM on this system and would gladly rip it out and hand deliver it to someones desk for my 850 bucks back. worst premium system in history.


The stock headunit is absolute garbage. along with the rest of the system
this is one time I miss my Mustangs. the Mach and Shaker systems were so much better.

as was the Bose in my G35 Coupe even that was better.

I do that quite a bit especially with Cam and heads and LTs cant help but hear it even with the BA cranked.

I also have to add that this is the worst system I have ever owned in a vehicle! No real clear low end, midrange, or highs. It's very veiled in comparison to my other systems.

Had the same problem was disappointed with the quality. Went with a JL 700-5 and hybrid audio speakers plus a hybrid woofer. Clarus Stage IV speakers. Don't forget to add sound deadening to the doors and trunk. Sounds like a concert going on in the back seat.
