ZEX Nitrous - a good or bad idea? general thoughts..

Hello boys and girls - I've been doing a little research about N2O and think that ZEX's kit for the 5th gen looks pretty cool. I've never installed a nitrous kit before but it seems like doing it right should pose no real threat to my engine. The ultimate goal for me is "mechanical" forced induction, but in the mean time I've been thinking this would be a fun way to light up my summer for under $800. What do you think? I couldn't find many threads on this.

About my car and driving habits: non-drag racer, occasionally I gun it on the highway but nothing too severe. Might take it to the track next month though and see what it can do. I have nothing on my driving record and am what I would consider to be a "average, responsible tax-paying driver" looking for a little more.

Current mods: Livernois dyno tune, kooks long tubes, CAI intake, noweeds diverters.

I've heard a lot about why I need a N2O specific tune - do guys like Livernois and Jannetty do that? I don't have a hand held tuner currently but might pick one up if I need it.

Questions:

--how much can be safely sprayed into a NA L99?
--how long does a bottle last?
--any bad long term effects?
--other things a rookie N2O experimenter needs to seriously consider before buying?

IMHO, Zex is a great company but theres only one N20 Kit built for the 2010+ CamaroSS Nitrous Express "plate system for cold air intakes" #20931-10 with 10lb bottle.

Theres only two fully trusted names in nitrous (Nitrous Express and N.O.S "holley")
you pay for what u get so buy all the saftey extras and accessories

1. 150 shot with a good tune is safe
2. 8-10 passes, don't spray in 1st gear unless u can hook
3. a professional install & tune is safe, long term not effected
(I have a 150 shot on my 2002 CamaroSS with no problems)
4. not really just ask Livernois the proper way & have fun

I have the ZEX kit installed on my car and it is a great complete kit and easy to install. You can run the 75 shot that is the starter jet in the kit with no tuning required. If you want to go any higher you will need a specific tune for the nitrous as it will have to have timing in it. The kit goes up to a 175 shot and just depends on what you really want out of the car. If you are only street driving and just want a little extra punch go with the 75 shot as it is mild. The nice thing about the kit is you start at 75 and go up from there and find what you are looking for.

Isn't it possible to pull timing by using a resistor in the IAT sensor to trick the computer into thinking the inlet air is hotter than it really is?
