OK so I just got this info from Patrick at GMPartsHouse

"I do not have pms turned on but the exhaust for the V6 is 1294.00. The NPP in a box allowes opened or closed operation controlled by remote. It will not function at RPM ranges ".

Sounds like what I said before was wrong. It allows the driver to control when its opened and when its closed....whereas stock seems to work dependant on how aggressive the driver is driving the car.

Not a cheap setup by any means but I'm still very curious to hear more .

Dynomax VT. Less than $400, simple install, stainless. You guys are going out of your way to make this difficult and expensive, IMO.

I too look forward to seeing/hearing more about this setup.

If it was available from the factory (as it is now), I would have ordered the dual-mode exhaust (NPP) option when I did my build. However, I would have had to choose between NPP and GFX (rear) and I, personally, like the look I have now with the square exhaust.

So even, if this is a nice setup, I may not be able to have it installed without changing out my diffuser, which I'm not sure is something that I want to do. I may have to go with an aftermarket setup that allows me to keep my rear diffuser.:(

At this point I'm researching/considering at NPP in a box, corsa catback, solo catback, and stainless works catback.

I'm fully aware of the Dynmax VT.

It is an option for some if they want an axleback that opens up under heavy throttle, but it does not work like the real NPP exhaust does.

Not at all making this difficult, but instead weighing my options as to the setup that best suits my preferences.

It may be more expensive, but I'm not going to settle on something just because it's cheaper. I would rather get what most makes me happy.

Well i was finally able to hear one in person today and i have to say it did not sound good at all in my opinion. They had it on the dealer floor and i asked for the keys to crank it up. The sales man hadn't heard it before either and a friend was with me and we all agreed that at idle and through the lower RPM band it sounded like a riced out honda.

Not trying to hate on anybody that has this set up because to each their own i just perfer my MRT V2. I did get a video with my friends iphone and i will post it later tonight. Not sure how good the video is but you can kind of make out the tone of it at idel with some revs.

Less expensive does not necessarily mean cheaper. Before assuming how it works you may want to try/hear one, it comes open very nicely at medium type load and/or rpm...and closes in relation nicely to a degree on decel, that gives a pleasant note too...I didnt mean to bag on the new system but it sounds very complicated, sometimes the KISS principle works very well

I just bought a new 2013 1LT RS A6 Thursday (10-25-12), I got the dealership to include the Dual mode exhaust for $1,025 plus tax. The system is suppose to be in on Monday and was told it will take about 2-3 hours to install. I'll post some clips once it's installed.

Eggscellent!! Cant wait to hear. Under load if you can, I've been thinking about taping a camera to the back of the car to video it, thats where you can really hear what it sounds like.

I think the dual-mode exhaust that the OP and others are taliking about is NPP. This is new to the 2013 LT (and the SS, I believe).

I have not heard of NPP being available as a dealer install. I think that your dealer is referring to GMPP, which is completely different. If so, he is also over charging you.

what's the difference in the two and how much should it cost from the dealer?
