Someone hit my car. What should I do?

I was shopping at the mall, I parked my car FAR away from the other cars. I go to my car after shopping and there is a note on my car that says "Sorry, I accidentally hit your car."
I am so mad right now, they didn't leave insurance information or anything! It is a really small dent, no one really notices it, but I notice it and its my brand new car! Ive only had it for a month. Should I file for insurance and pay a $500 deductible, or should I just go to the dealer and pay cash to get it fixed? How much do you think it would cost to get it fixed??

Talk to your insurance. They will give you a list of approved body shops to fix it.

Don't take it to your dealership, they will just make it worse

Ask the mall if they have security footage, and let your insurance handle it

I think you'll be better off to pay cash in that instance.

Get an estimate and see if you can afford to pay it out of pocket. If so, I'd avoid making a claim.

My insurance handled someone backing into me in a mall parking lot. I paid $200, got it all fixed up.

i would talk to mall security ....and if you feel like experimenting try the heat and ice method ( i believe ZKdreds got a video..theres lots of vids on youtube)...then if you really want to mess with the hassle of body shop and insurance, rental car etc...take it in...DONT feel bad ....a lady hit me in the parking lot as i was walking away i heard her hit it...then just watched in disbelief as she backed out scraping it again and pulled back in....long story but it was pretty bad....i got it fixed though...she was a B*tch about it too!!!!

Hmm if i see the tag correct, im assuming hes from pensacola, where im located as well. Our mall doesnt have any security cameras around really, but they have security driving around the mall very slow, like theyre lazy. Best bet is to ask security if they saw or witnessed anything.

Sorry bout your accident though.
