So from this list of fastest times by owner, the 392 is indeed a high 12's car.

Average fast time 392 owners: 12.98 @ 109.4mph
Average fast time 392 magazines: 12.95 @ 112.0mph

If anything the magazine times OVERACHIEVE vs actual owners.

Actually I think your list is a bit out of date, I know that I am not 3rd on the list, there were others that were faster than I. Actually SRT8's new Charger has bested my times stock. Also if you think running with TC and Stability control "On" makes for a hero run I feel for you, as that is how my time came to be. If I had been a better driver or had more practice I am certain I could have bettered my times. What's dragging the average times for the list down is the slower times of the manual cars.

Yes, that is the norm. Was that an auto? But this guy is obsessed and sits there in the staging lanes with his laptop attached fiddling with his tune all the time his family is not with him. And he is a cool guy to boot. He torched my 1LE a number of times when it was stock. But of course I can't drive.

I think in the Atco mineshaft weather this fall he went lower than 12.8. A completely stock LS2 auto GTO with just a tune went 12.5. You have to love Atco.

My friend's bolt on v6 accord did 13.4 @ 107 mph at Atco, its a good track lol

Well you still would not be able to fairly compare them IMO. The Cobra had a starting MSRP of over 33k while a loaded Z28 was around 25k and SS was 28k. The fair comparison for 03 would have been Z28>GT, SS>Mach 1 and the Cobra would have been without a competitor. That being said I think the Mustang was of better quality in every way other than the engine and performance. The whole performance battle between the Mustang and Camaro between 93-02 was a lot like the Vietnam War. GM won all the battles but lost the war.

A s/c cobra and a 6 speed ls1 are both 12 second cars... it's a drivers race.

The base lighter z28 6 speed were faster than the heavier SS cars too.
