Oil Pressure Gauge for the V6

About 300 miles ago I had my oil switched to Mobil 1 and everything was like normal. But today on start up my Oil Pressure gauge went straight to 70 PSI and only went down when I came to a complete stop. I would mildly accelerate and it would keep climbing up to 70 PSI again. I checked the oil just in case to make sure it was alright and it was fine. I Onstared it and they said that they could not find anything wrong and told me to take it to a dealer to get a better idea of what was happening. She's never done this in all 4300 miles that I've had her. I'll check to see if she does it again tomorrow but I just wanted to here any possiblities. I am hoping the gauge was just having issues and it doesn't do it again.

Hope nothing is wrong. What is the normal operating PSI? Also whats the normal operating temp for the oil and transmission fluid?

Was the right viscosity used? If not, it could affect the oil pressure.

Immediately change your oil again to the viscosity recommended for your Camaro. Change the oil filter too.

I would recommend you do it yourself.

Check oil pressure again.

Everything was a straight change. I had my dealership do it. New filter and a brand new box of Mobil 1. Everything was great until the other day. It did the same thing today upon start up.

I emailed the dealership closest to me as I am about 2 hours away from my normal dealer (as I'm in college).

I know for a fact that each morning when I start my car up cold, the oil pressure goes to 70psi and will basically stay there for a few minutes until the engine attains operating temperature, whether at idle or not. Then the idle pressure will drop down to normal, around 30psi. I think what you might be experiencing is normal. If your still in doubt, then take it in.

I know that it goes to 70 and then drops to around 40 but mine stayed at 70 for extended periods of time.

I took her in today and an hour later I got a call saying that they fixed it. Somehow a piece of the guage was loose so it was reading as it was running hot/high when it was cool/low. So there was nothing truly wrong besides a loose piece.

Mine does the same thing...and also does it when you accelerate quickly.

Same thing here. The V6's run very high oil pressure, especially at startup. I wouldn't worry about it.
