Also with the auto you click it into Manual mode and use the paddles to override the computer. Oh yea... if I had the cash I would have SS with the paddles. Spoil me...

IF you know how to really drive a stick, MAYBE the Launch mode on the manual will keep up with the auto. BUT manuals are SO MUCH MORE FUN on the corners.

If you want to road race, get a manual. If you want to drag race get an auto. Autos are easier on the rear end at launches and you can put a high stall converter to leave the sticks in the dust. I think the average person will quarter an auto quicker than the stick version anyway, unless they powershift and beat the $#!%& out of the manual.

im on the fence with this.
i like the fact that the Auto has paddles, so you still feel involved, and the auto has AFM, Its faster, and its easy so anyone can drive it. but the manual is more fun, its GOT AN LS3! its lighter, and it will get better MPG. |

You sound like you want an automatic, Congoman, but these are the reasons you think you'll regret it....there's only one in that list that holds water.
but the manual is more fun That's subjective. But generally...yes; even if the Auto has paddle-shifters, and manual transmission will feel more engaging (no pun intended). 1 Point its GOT AN LS3 So does the Auto. It's an LS3 with AFM. There really aren't any massive differences besides the two engines. 0 points its lighter by a massive 53 pounds according to Chevy...*cue the raised eyebrow* 0 points and it will get better MPG Not necessarily. My money is on both having at least the same rating if the auto doesn't get better. 0 points Results? Test drive them both. But don't let a silly thing like the engine's name stop you from buying one or the other. |

That was my concern. I wish the auto had the same 422hp LS3.
My brother is a MANUAL FREAK, BUT he said to get an auto. Hard decision. |

22 hp isnt much if you cant keep it planted to the ground.

I bet you'd be hard pressed to feel 22 horsepower. I'd like to see chassis dyno' numbers when these cars come out to see what the real difference is. Shoot, I bet with some simple tranny tuning, you can go faster (i.e. higher pressure, reduce shift time, reduce or eliminate TM, etc.) Like I said before, if you were to throw a high-stall converter in there, it would be even better! Not as fun as a manual? You gotta' be one heckuva' driver to be able to drive a manual car around a big stalled auto'.
