Richmond is actually closer for me too. How is the track prep there? It was a little lacking at VMP when I went.

I think the track prep at Richmond is actually pretty good. When I had my 91' mustang and 68' Camaro I ran my quickest times at Richmond. But right after the quarter mile ends better start breaking! The don't have as much stopping distance.

Also, if you have never been, it's really a mom-and-pop type of track, no where as big or nice as VMP.

However, given how humble the track is compared to most others, it still manages to draw some very fast cars. There is a red firehawk that is twin-turbo's pushing probably close to 900hp by now. Deep in the 9's should be in the 8's soon. He usually goes there.

I've been before, but only as a spectator. Are there usually a ton of cars on Friday nights? At VMP you could pretty much run back to back runs if you wanted, you just couldn't get any traction off the line unless you had drag radials or slicks.

Sorry hard to predict that, it's very unpredictable. I've seen it packed and not-so-much. Just varies.

My guess is that since VMP and Richmond were both closed last Friday, then both tracks will be packed. Just a hunch.

They got an event on the 1st of Sept @VMP with all day test and tune runs.... I gotta see what the family has planned for the weekend... but here is the flyer...

http://vmpdrag.com/drag/LaborDayPowerfestSep1.aspx

Last time I went to an event like this...the test and tune got a lot of passes in between the pro classes.

If I go it would be VMP, I have never been to richmond raceway. I heard it has a big bump in the track. Is that true?

the bump is more in the right lane.

I would go but they would kick me off, no cage...:(

I have to do track rentals where they look the other way on the cage thing.

Well, maybe I could go one night later in the season let off at the 1/8th, and on the last run let loose get my slip and go bye bye as they show me the gate...

I`m not going to put a cage in it. I drive the car to church, cruises, car shows w/ my 8 year old and 10 year old in the back seat. No room for kids and a cage.:(

I thought i saw a removable cage at one point. It is definitely not as strong as what they require for your protection, but they will not question if you have a cage...just saying.

I have been thinking about something I could stick in there for like a Camarofest or LSX type shootout thing. I really would like to run at one of those events. Put it in before then remove after the event. Just for a friday night where you get 3 or 4 runs sounds like a little too much work to put it in and pull it back out. I just drive too much w/ the family in between. Why I do the track rental thing, you spend that much money they don`t say squat. Lol.. Plus, I did not think about this when I posted, but I can go w/ you guys on a friday night w/ my Vette its stock and runs 11.8`s at best so I won`t get thrown off the track.

I'm hoping to get up that way on the 21st for a few runs. I need to run my car at a real track

Even the bolt ins are allot of work to put in or take out, are yall putting together another track rental this fall? I qualified 10.96 at Camarofest with the DA at 3200
