Any Cat Back Exhaust with no drone on a Automatic SS???

Help...I have a Cat Back Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust on my 2011 SS (Auto)...i LOVE THE SOUND, but I can not live with the drone and vibration emtting from the exhasut at 1750-2500 rpm...Please help...I know that Solo Jpipe may work to help with this problem, but the exhaust shops here in Bmore have said that the J Pipes will not work with the Auto and the cylinders deactivation system in the v8 that Chevy has installed ...IS this true??? Is there a system that you have expert knowledge that will not have drone and still have aagressive muscle car tone...I need a solution that will solve the drone problem...I am willing to buy a new system...

Aprreciate all your input..

Best

Will

I'll be keeping an eye on this. But I thought the J pipes could be used.

For the tune it comments:
Would love to tune it out, but not willing to chance that warranty.

I've got the Solo Mach-XC for the convertible. The j pipes take out the drone completely but the AFM noise is totally different. I wouldn't call it drone, per se. It's more like a "tone" that kinda sounds like a middle school kid playing a sour note on a tuba. No way to get rid of it but with a tune.

However any j pipe addition will get rid of the drone. Look up helmholtz resonator and it explains how it works.

I have the Solo Cat back with J pipes and it sounds great... absolutely No drone... then I added headers, high flow cats and a Tune, sounds like sex and still no Drone, can't go wrong with the Solo Exhaust.... Corsa has no drone either but it's a little to raspy for my taste... I have video of my set up if you'd like to hear it...

Oh and if you really like your flows... just getting the J pipes should help... maybe not totally cancel the drone but should do away with 90 percent of it... personally you should just swap the whole thing over to the Solo... you won't regret it...

doctorwill: What your muffler shop says is false....
I've had the Solo axle back J-Pipes on my auto / L99 SS for 2 years now.
I have NOT tuned out the afm and have NO drone and very little afm noise at any rpm.
Just my opinion but I believe the Solo J-pipe cat backs would also be drone free.

Both Corsa and Solo will be drone free but you will still have the annoying AFM sound.

Drone sound and AFM sound are 2 totally different things and the ONLY true way to stop the AFM sound is a tune. You can also drive in Tap Shift mode to help eliminate it.

And I'm sorry, people who say they cannot hear AFM are tone deaf!

Doctorwill:

I had the Solo Mach XL cat back w/ J-pipes and no problems with drone. I added the Solo high flo cats and still no issue.

I agree with Nryfan regarding the sound due to AFM. Some people claim the AFM does not bother them with the Solo system, but it annoyed the heck out of me, before and after adding the Hi Flo cats. With the AFM turned off, via JRE SCT tune, driving is great and the sound is great (in my humble opinion).

Good luck.
