Think about this, though, Brendan: Consider how often you drive your car, the way you drive it, and what you would ultimately like to do. Do you think you'd actually need to have warranty work? Even if something went wrong, it would likely be something you wanted to upgrade anyway. There's no better justification to the Mrs. for upgrades than when something breaks -- it goes from "I want it" to "I need it"
I've been talking to jay, think I have a guy who will do a better job for the same price. So gonna go with him.

As for warranty, I keep it more for things like if the HUD dies or if a window stops working or if my radio dies. Stupid things you shouldn't HAVE to worry about, but do. Ya know?

Those things would be covered regardless of if you had a tune or not.

Right. It's just the question of cashing the extended warranty in.

Doesnt a can tune void the warranty also? I may be wrong but i dont think a can tune will get rid of the cel.

I use a mechanic close to Scottdale, Pa. He has a mustang dyno. His name is John Sandzimer. This was can tune. He ran it on the dyno and tweaked almost all he could. He told me to bring it back again and he may be able to get more out of it. Scottdale is past Greensburg coming form Pittsburgh. 10 miles off the new stanton exit.

Oh forgot. To make sure that a CEL does not come on the back set of o2 sensors are turned off or tuned out .

Swacer. I am not sure what a can tune will or will not do but if the CEl comes on and stays on that would drive me crazy. The guy I use is not cheap I think 350 375 for the tune but it is done right when he is done with it. But it done on the dyno and he has all of the latest electronics he needs to do the tune. The only person that he could not help was guy who has a new challenger. It seems that Chrysler has locked the ECU and you cannot get into it.

You mean things that have absolutely nothing to do with performance?

Do you feel that headers and/or a camshaft will void the warranty on your power windows and radio?

A "can tune" voids the warranty just as well as any custom time. As far as GM, they are one in the same. The term canned tune refers to it being a cookie cutter tune that gets paved into every tunner with that same part number in the assembly line. A custom time is a time that was developed by a tunner with a dyno or by data logging. Custom or canned matters not a single little bit, not at all. It's a tune. A tune is a tune is a tune.

No Larry. As I said, I would just question if its worth keeping my extended warranty at that point since power train is already gone.

Unless you are yanking out your engines and using an engine dyno. Your crank estimates aren't useful.

When I had my car tuned it was done by Bryan@pcmforless at Lutz Racing in Mars. Bryan travels around the area tuning at different shops. I don't know if he still does but at the time, Bryan tuned the THR cars at Lutz. I've no way to judge his tune against anyone else's but I've not had any issues with it. Brendan, I bought the extended warranty for all the non drivetrain items. There's a ton of electronics on these and it's all tied together. I'd consider that before selling back your extended. I bought it with my heater core change in mind. I would NOT want to pay that bill. Just something to consider. Stainless Works headers go on relatively easy. The extensions were in the kit.
