SUPER FREAKED OUT

So last night, i get out of work and i'm driving home probably around 8pm and i get my car to about 70 on the highway when all of a sudden after i shift it into 6th it starts making the noise that it would make if i had the clutch pressed and i was hitting the gas, except it wasn't pressed. I pressed the clutch and popped it into neutral and the noise continued. The display said "Shift". Meanwhile this whole time i took my foot off the gas so im dropping speed. So i down shift and the noise continued and all of a sudden it just stopped and my car drove fine again.

I really got no clue what the hell this can be but it freaked me out, so anyone else have same problem or even know what the hell i'm talking about.

Take it to your dealer. Have them run codes and take a close look at the transmission and your computer.

If your throttle was revved up with your foot off the gas it sounds like your TB may have been stuck open...I think. In which case there wouldn't be a code, but, explaining that to a tech would still lead them in the right direction without a code....hopefully.

How is this a con? its a freak problem that could have happened on any car, even an auto if it was a case of the TB sticking open.

I've owned more manual cars than I can remember and never had this problem. But when my battery dies I always have a way to get it started -- do that with an automatic!
