Install successful!
I finally turned the key on my Camaro after installing the G6X3 (and a throttle body and intake manifold ported by ADM Performance). I was probably as nervous as I've ever been, so I was bouncing off the wall when it fired right up (with full oil pressure especially). I did the timing chain and a Melling oil pump while I was at it.
I gave it 20-25 min of idling, giving it throttle to keep it alive. It just wants to die. Any hope of getting it to idle on its own, or am I going to have to wait until it gets tuned? |

Well I can't answer your question but I will say congrats on the install. I wish I had the b*lls/know how to do something like that.

you are going to have to get it tuned for it to idle.

Just FYI, I got no pressure just turning the engine over without the coil plugs connected (a few people on ls1tech said they've never seen pressure build just off of the starter turning the engine), but I'm sure it could've helped. As soon as the gauge start-up sweep finished, oil pressure went straight to 40.

I know all about those nerves... i was so relieved when mine fired up and didnt make any weird noises!!... well except the little more valvetrain noise than normal. If you think just driving/reving is nerve wrecking..... wait till they turn it to redline if you're getting a dyno tune!!! ... they turned mine to 7200 rpm today and it stayed together.... lol

I want to install a cam too. I have a good friend who builds motors so I think we may try it. and I'd say you need a tune. thats my problem. if i install the cam at home, the tuning shop is an hour drive away??!?!?! Not sure what to do there?

Its so easy its crazy!!... the car will run after ur done. I just tuned mine today and i finished my cam install little over 2 weeks ago. Now, gas mileage is horrible until the tune... my car never got anybetter than 9 mpg before tune and now it got 16 coming back from tune shop.

Yes, in my mind I pictured my engine blowing up right there in front of me. The more they approached redline the more I kept thinking "back it down, back it down, OK WTF"
