Why do you like the "whine"

Please don't be offended, I'm just trying to understand what I'm missing here.

Why do many of you like the whine a CAI adds?

I love the exhaust sound of the ZL1, but I don't like the whine I've heard on videos of ZL1's with CAI's. I was going to add a cold air box, but I just don't think I would like the noise.

I've seen so many posts where owners say the whine gets louder and they "love it". Maybe you can tell me why you like it?

That's actually a question I've never given much thought to.

I think I've loved the whine of a S/C since the first time I saw The Road Warrior as a kid. To me it just sounds like power.

I am with the OP. The whine is okay, but it sort of gets in the way of other sounds and I am not sure that I like it. It is growing on me.

First of all, I noticed it the first night I installed and then drove it around, and then the first time I took it to the strip with the Rotofab on 6 days later.

But I couldn't tell you the last time I noticed it. But I always have the radio on.

Second, I don't know, because it's bad ass. But seriously, I guess because it's a physical and noticeable manifestation of the SC which might be seen on a car with a blower sticking out the hood, but they engineered our cars so well that in stock form anyone who doesn't know it's a ZL1, doesn't know it's a ZL1 if you get my drift. So what some of us want is a little more credit for driving such bad assery in normal situations.

So that people that are really into performance cars hear you step on it and know it's running a BLOWER!

My first supercharged vehicle was a 2002 Escalade with a Magnacharger added. The whine from that system was louder than my ZL1. The stock exhaust on our cars is pretty loud, you're just unable to hear what others are able to hear outside the car at WOT! You need the whine to balance it out.

The whine is a sound versio nof a badge that says, "supercharged." Not unlike the turbo blow off valve sound, the supercharger whine adds more "look at me" to the Zl1. And our Zl1's , always - always get looks.

Because it lets people know you mean business. I love going to a car show and someone pulls in with a lot "blower whine". It gets people's attention ASAP!

Turbos spooling and superchargers whining just screams AMERICA to me. You find out very quickly whether to race someone if you can hear that sound or not, its like a snake using its venom, or a dog using its bite. Scary stuff:(
