I don't think I posted from back in July. Dyno'd at Cunningham Motorsports after Stainless Works LT Headers and Retro Catback Exahust, Vmax Ported Thottlebody, Roto-Fab Intake, and tune. 371rwhp. It's a Mustang Dyno and I heard it would be above 400rwhp on a DynoJet?

I want more!

Those are great numbers. 400rwtq from around 3500rpm up to around 6400rpm. Power hangs on to around 7000rpm. Very good. Very nice.

Nice numbers! What was done between the two runs, the tune?

Hi,

I'm new here and I have some questions about L99 Bolt-ons power:

I've been reading about bolt-ons and dyno.. and numbers just don't add up in my mind.

1. Stock LS3 has 426HP at crank
2. Stock L99 has 400HP at crank
3. L99 responds to tune/mods better then LS3

However by reading these threads I see that bolt-on/tune LS3 usually gets 420-430 RWHP which matches stock HP at crank and L99 gets 370-380 RWHP which is 20-30HP lower than stock crank..

So how come L99 responds better to tune than LS3 yet final numbers are lower?

What am I missing?

Sasha

not sure were you read L99 get more performance from mods than an LS3 but I believe that it is untrue. You can say that L99 feels like they wake up more when you put a great tune in it. Also LS3 usually dyno stock at 370hp and if they get an intake and tune they are usually still under 426hp.

p.s remeber our parasitic lose that we get for having an automatic which is 20% of the crank hp compared to the LS3 15% lose.

LS3 make 370-375 RWHP
L99 make 330-335 RWHP

Both Respond equally well to CAI, Headers and tuning both coming in at 40 RWHP over stock.

The A6 Auto also suffers from Torque management and Granny Shifts, which when tuned offers additional performance, and feel.

Ted.

Hello and Welcome!

A SCT X3 tuner W JRE custom tune would make a significant difference.

When your purchase the SCT tuner from JRE the first custom tune is FREE for your current mods.

Then as the budget allows you purchase a set of Headers from JRE and the tune update for the Headers is FREE, and So on and So on.

I have a wide variety of LT headers available to suit your budget.

A Cai headers and JRE tune are the best bang for the buck worth 40 RWHP and 50 lb torque on the L99.

Ted.

Thanks Ted that sounds like a start for sure. I have seen a lot about L 99 to LS3 conversion what all does that include?

Hmmm.now you have me thinking of getting an SCT and doing a tune...even though I only have CAI and Solo HFCs on an L99.

Damn you ;-)
