The B4C was the police package car and it has all the go fast goodness we want in a Camaro without the frills we don't. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Camaro_B4C

They can usually be picked up for cheap because they're ex-government cars. Most were likely well-maintained by municipalities; however, they will have high miles and saw a life on the go. They're great platforms if one wants to build a race car, though.
With that said, they weren't available with t-tops. Also keep in mind that they were only significantly different in the third gen years. 4th gen B4C's were just a Z28 with low options (but not as spartan as a 1LE of the same vintage).

As to the specific cars you were looking at:
The red convertible Z28 at Sid Dillon Chevrolet has an SS hood with the scoop and an RS rear wing. Shouldn't be a big deal unless they did a crappy job with the install, particularly the rear wing. Looking at the lower door sills and rear valance panel of the car, it appears that at some point the rest of the RS body kit was installed, but it's been taken off for some reason. Did they decide that they didn't like the look or was there damage and they removed it instead of replacing it all? Throw in the mismatched SS hood, and I would suspect an accident at some point. The tires are Hankooks, which means that the previouos owner went cheap on replacement rubber. That can be somewhat understandable, given that the OEM Goodyears can run $200 apiece, but there are a lot of quality tire choices between Goodyear and Hankook. What else did he cheap out on over the years? |

You should buy Gary's 2nd gen, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". Better car.
