OP, you should be happy that you did not get the Hurst short-throw shifter when you got your SS.

The aftermarket version is better, plus it is cheaper than the option from GM.

same deal here - wanted the GM Hurst, then drove one - was not much better than stock. Bought the "real" Hurst and have no complaints or problems in 8000 miles. Two inches of travel vs the GM Hurst 4.5" or the stock 6".

Well its good to know that the GM Hurst is not that great either so its not so bad having to go get the original.. Looking forward to it as im not real happy with the one in there now..

Thanks for your input.. was wondering if it was just my 45th or all of them came this way..

FYI i also checked with the dealer and they said it would be about $1000 to change over my shifter for the GM/Hurst shifter.. seems a bit steep to me but whatever.. it doesnt look to be that difficult (if you have a lift)..
Will update when completed..

I really don't understand all the whining that goes on about the OEM shifters. If you were to drive a car from 40 years a go, you would really be whining. These modern shifters are amazing ...

Wait, so you forgot to check that box on the order? Otherwise, they messed up.

Look at the MGW shifter. Plus for the money your dealer was talking about install the Hurst you could drive to Augusta GA and MGW will istall for free.

My first vehicle, given to me by my dad. 64 Chevy p/u stepside with three on the tree and a clutch pedal that travelled for miles.
