RS wheels and Winter driving
Winter driving in Canada with the RS wheels, is not recommended. Any suggestions on some alternatives and where to buy? (dont want to spend a fortune) Also need to match the size as to not mess with the odometer reading. any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I bought a set of take off's from an LS on eBay for $800 shipped.
They will fit exactly and they are all season. Plus they are steel so I'm not worrying about the salt ruining my RS rims.

There are several threads regarding suggestions for winter winter conditions. Most popular choice is to get a beater. Since not everyone can do this, next best is to get winter wheels and tires. Winter wheels are heavier, narrower, and smaller in diameter. They help cut through deeper snow. Plus, you don't have to expose your alloy wheels to the salt they put on the roads. Last option is a set of winter or all season tires for the rims that came with the car. The 20" wheels will not work as well in the snow, and it is not recommended to be swapping tires on and off a rim.
You live in Vancouver so you can probably get away with all seasons, unless you like heading up the mountains.

I am in the same boat as you (2LT RS V6 Manual) but with much more snow (Tdot Canada).
I am going to purchase 18 inch rims with a set of 225 60 18 tires. I believe the rim thickness should be 8 inches. The bolt pattern is 5 x 120, though I am not sure about the offset. |

All the ny drivers I am worried about having summer tires in the winter but the way I look at it is THe last 2 or 3 years it has snowed like 3 or 4 times the whole winter. Maybe one of those storms was significant of like 8 inches or more. Also in nyc the streets usually get plowed right away . My only concern is going to be the salt. I actuALLY love driving in the snow> I have been trying to get my jeep to slip and slide alittle but it wont budge. Lol i cannot wait to do some donuts in my new camaro. I just hope i will be able to drive this thing in the snow and not just spin my back tires and go nowhere because of this so called summer tires crap. One last thing i have never heard of a car that doesnt come with a spare tire till now thaT really sucks. im not paying 180 for a donut.

i really wish gm would allow us to just order the RS package WITHOUT the 20" wheels. i don't know much about what it would take to buy smaller rims and tires and use them in the winter, so if i could have just bought them from the get go it would be a lot less complicated.
