NO..synthetic is not required in the V6.

I just changed oil & filt. Put in Mobil 1 5W-30 @ 1,200miles and the orig. oil was very dirty (black).

Thanks for the reply.

Thats sounds like a Good plan...............

if that is unusual maybe someone else will have some input.......
I guess the oil is just doing it's job.

BTW.. Before changing the oil, looking at dipstick it didn't look black at all.
I guess because the oil is very thin.
When draining it then it looked black.
After changing & looking at the oil I was glad I didn't wait till say 2k or 3k to change it.

I may now wait for "change oil soon message "to to come on & then change it........
I will see how many miles that will be.....

I checked out quite a few filters for my current vehicles and k&n, fram, and ACdelco were all in the 95-97% filteration range. Mobil1 has a filteration of 99.2%. The puralator one that I went with is 99.9% filteration. I would def look to see if they make one yet for the camaro. I plan on running Mobil1 performance with the puralator filter. I want the best possible filteration.

Do any of the 3.6 filters come with new housing cap gasket(O-ring), my fist one didn't. GM parts direct shows it but don't list it as available. They won't last for ever

Most people say frams are crap, but I don't really know first hand.

I ordered 4 wix part # 57090 from fleetfilter.com, with shipping it ended up being $26.38. It's not too bad -- the more you order the better off you are because shipping is a lot of that cost (the filters were only 4.48 apiece).

Just my two cents. I have almost a thousand more miles to go on my 4Runner till it hits 300,000 miles. The only thing I have changed is the oil and filter and the starter. Change oil around 7,000 miles on it. Oh yeah, U-joints too around 250,000.
